Tower of Tanquian

We invite you to come and stay in our unique guest apartment, located in the tower of our historic, protected home. You will find it a relaxing escape, perfect for exploring the beauties of the Ribeira Sacra region, or simply for snuggling up with loved ones to drink tea, watch birds, and scamper around the fields and woodlands of the farm. The tower was built onto the existing house in the year 1777

as engraved into one of the outside walls. It is a typical example of the Galician “Lareira,” a place traditionally used to smoke meats and dry chestnuts. The tower is 15 meters high. The restoration process lasted two years, and we took special care to conserve all of the original walls as well as the roof with its big top stones and original chestnut beams. The apartment has its own independent external entrance with a balcony, from which you have a beautiful view of the valley.
Inside you will find a pleasant mixture of pointed walls, original beams, and plasterboard walls. The new woodwork is done exclusively in chestnut and insulated with cork.
The 36 m2 apartment is divided into two levels. The first floor comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, full bathroom, small living room with a convertible sofa bed, and TV.
On the second floor is the sleeping room with a large double bed (140 x 197cm).
Central heating, fired with wood, and under floor heating of the clay tiles in the entrance area, will keep you warm in the Galician winters.
The space is ideal for 2-3 people, though not ideal for toddlers because of the stairs.
We’re sorry that we’re not currently able to accept pets.

Internet :  We have a broadband WiFi connection.

During the growing period there is the possibility to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the farm, and eco-conserves are available all year round. We also invite you to participate in the work on the land if you are interested in learning about ecological agriculture methods.
The surroundings offer beautiful hiking possibilities in almost untouched nature, directly from the doorstep or a short drive away. But you don’t even need to leave the farm to experience the diversity of wildlife and rare birds.

The Ribeira Sacra is famous for its vast concentration of Romanic churches and monasteries, and of course the typical Galician kitchen. We’ll of course provide you with many recommendations once you arrive about the best sites and eats that only the locals know about.
